Greetings Open Education Colleagues: In early 2017, the Creative Commons Global Network (CCGN) completed a consultation process of renewing and reorganizing itself to support a strong and growing global movement. Part of the new strategy is to establish defined areas of focus, or “platforms,” which will drive CC’s global activities. Dear Pressbooks user Pressbooks (pressbooks.bccampus.ca) and open textbooks in the B.C. Open Textbook Collection that are hosted in BCcampus' internal instance of Pressbooks (opentextbc.ca) was upgraded to Pressbooks 4.0 this summer and has recently been upgraded to Pressbooks 4.1. We are sorry to get these changes to you after the update and all future notices will be sent to you before the updates occur. Access Copyright and York, request for webinar participation

Hi BCOEL! I am wondering if any of you would be interested in participating in a webinar (hosted by BCcampus) to discuss the background, implications, ruling of the following Access Copyright vs. York case. For background: York University opted out of the Access Copyright agreement a few years ago and decided to try to police it on their own within their university and push the new fair use clause of the Canadian Copyright act. Access Copyright sued them and appears they have won the case.
