Hello!
FYI, some of us were noticing that our OE Weeks events were not showing up under the usual OE Week category or tag on the BCcampmus events calendar. I found out that they have put all OE Week events together into one calendar entry: Open Education Week 2025<https://bccampus.ca/event/open-education-week-2025/?instance_id=3918>
Cheers,
Amanda

Hello all,
May I ask you to promote BCOEL's March 6<https://bcoel.ca/events/oeweek-event-registration/>th<https://bcoel.ca/events/oeweek-event-registration/> event<https://bcoel.ca/events/oeweek-event-registration/> at your home institutions? Unfortunately, we only have about 12 people registered so far (compared with about 100 people for last year's event). Please be sure to sign yourselves up too, even if you can't make it or plan to attend the in-person group event. This will ensure you receive the recording, and will give us a better sense of the event's reach (BCcampus seeks these kind of metrics as a sponsorship condition).
Sincere thanks for helping to make this event a success!

Good afternoon, all
Hope you're enjoying this lovely Friday before the long weekend!
The BCOEL Steering Committee met this Monday and had a great meeting! We discussed what everyone is planning for the upcoming OE week, as well as discussed questions about publishing, textbook costs and more! You can find all previous minutes on the BCOEL Meeting Minutes page<https://bcoel.ca/the-bcoel-steering-committee/steering-committee-minutes/>.
We're also excited to officially announce the BCOEL OE Week hybrid event on March 6th. We're delighted to have Dr. Ann Gagné present a virtual keynote titled: Vectors of Trust: Practicing Reciprocal Values in Challenging Times from 2:30-3:30pm. I'm really looking forward to it, and all are welcome to join. Find more details and registration link on the BCOEL OEWeek Event Registration page<https://bcoel.ca/events/oeweek-event-registration/>.
As a hybrid event, we will also be holding an in-person portion at Langara College on March 6th from about 12:00-16:00 (specific campus location on campus to come). We've organized an afternoon of activity! There will be lunch, a screening of the BCIT OE event<https://bcit.libcal.com/event/3883294> taking place from 13:00-14:00, coffee break, and will conclude with the keynote presentation. We can continue the festivities at the Langara Clubhouse afterwards as well. The in-person event is only for the BCOEL network, please respond to this message (or me personally) before Friday February 28th to express interest and attendance.
Thanks all in advance and hope you have a terrific weekend ahead!
Best,
Liz

Hello everyone,
I realized today that I have been woefully lax at updating our membership on the website. I have gone through and made edits based on my memory, but please take a moment to check the list and make sure that I have the right person/institution listed! Additionally, if there are other past members we should be acknowledging please let me know.

Good morning, all
Hope you're enjoying the start back to the week. Vancouver has had a lot of snow and cold over the weekend, which I personally love!
Attached is the agenda for our upcoming meeting on Monday, February 10th, 1-2pm. Please reach out with edits, changes, or suggested topics.
Use this link<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_Mjk0YTU4ZTMtZDA3NC00…> to join the meeting.
In the meantime - a fun update! The BCOEL OE week keynote event will be on March 6th from 2:30-3:30pm. More details to come about the in-person portion (also on that Thursday), and we should be able to share specifics in our meeting next week. Looking forward to chatting more and learning about all the upcoming OE week events!
Thanks in advance all and talk soon!
Best,
Liz

Hi, strangers!
I've got a question that I think is particularly suited for the wisdom of
this group. As some of y'all may know, OER Commons is run by my
organization, ISKME. ISKME also sets up and helps maintain microsites
(rebranded, repopulated, and customized OER Commons libraries) to other
organizations.
This year, we're working with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher
Education (OSRHE) to set one up for them. In a recent meeting, one of the
librarians (a member of the Mohawk nation) brought up the possibility of
incorporating something Brian Deer-like into the taxonomy, as they'd heard
about it while working with the librarians at the College of the Muscogee
Nation, but they didn't have a lot of movement on it at the time.
While I know a bit about it, it's a bit outside of my specialty. I know
that UBC, KPU and SFU all have their own implementations of it, and I was
wondering if anyone in the group might be able to suggest someone at those
libraries who could I could put in touch the librarian at OSRHE? Bonus
points if they also have experience with OER!
Thanks kindly,
Peter Musser (he/him)

Good morning, all
Hope you're having a great midweek!
This is just a quick update re: the current OER week preference from the wider listserv. We've had 7 responses so far, but the 'OER and student success in a time of enrolment decline' option is taking a substantial early lead!
There are tumbleweeds flying through the inspiration and ideas side of my brain right now, but with a good break I'm hopeful that something will spark between now and our next meeting! Perhaps we can all consider this topic (and potential speakers, if we go in that direction) over the next few weeks and chat more in January!
Hope you all have a terrific and restful holiday season and looking forward to seeing you all again in 2025!
Best,
Liz
