Brian Deer variants at BC universities

Hi, strangers! I've got a question that I think is particularly suited for the wisdom of this group. As some of y'all may know, OER Commons is run by my organization, ISKME. ISKME also sets up and helps maintain microsites (rebranded, repopulated, and customized OER Commons libraries) to other organizations. This year, we're working with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) to set one up for them. In a recent meeting, one of the librarians (a member of the Mohawk nation) brought up the possibility of incorporating something Brian Deer-like into the taxonomy, as they'd heard about it while working with the librarians at the College of the Muscogee Nation, but they didn't have a lot of movement on it at the time. While I know a bit about it, it's a bit outside of my specialty. I know that UBC, KPU and SFU all have their own implementations of it, and I was wondering if anyone in the group might be able to suggest someone at those libraries who could I could put in touch the librarian at OSRHE? Bonus points if they also have experience with OER! BCOEL: Current OER Week results

Good morning, all Hope you're having a great midweek! This is just a quick update re: the current OER week preference from the wider listserv. We've had 7 responses so far, but the 'OER and student success in a time of enrolment decline' option is taking a substantial early lead! There are tumbleweeds flying through the inspiration and ideas side of my brain right now, but with a good break I'm hopeful that something will spark between now and our next meeting! Perhaps we can all consider this topic (and potential speakers, if we go in that direction) over the next few weeks and chat more in January! Proposed dates for BCOEL 2024-2025 meetings

Good morning all, Hope you had a great weekend full of sunshine - I went to the Khatsalano street party and had a very good time and only got a little sunburnt! I am delighted to be the Chair for the coming term ahead and am looking forward to working together again soon enough! I am unfortunately away for the September meeting (on holiday in Greece, so not too unfortunate!) but Amanda has very graciously agreed to chair the meeting in my absence. For new/returning members, the standing meeting date is the second Monday of each month from 13:00-14:00 PST, with meetings running from September-June. Where this date falls on a holiday, the meeting will be scheduled for the third Monday of the month (with some exceptions!). Please review the dates for the September 2024-June 2025 period and reach out if you see any major issues. UCW does not have an institutional Zoom account and because I didn’t receive any objections to using Teams for our meetings, that’s the platform we will use! If we run into issues with this, I’ll be sure to adjust! Once the dates are confirmed, I will send calendar invites for each meeting. Proposed schedule: * September 9 * October 15 (adjusted for Thanksgiving and Open Access Week) * Note: since Open Access week is the week of October 21st/the third Monday, the suggestion and precedent has been to hold the meeting on the Tuesday (at the same time) after the Thanksgiving holiday instead. * November 18 (November 11th is Remembrance Day) * December 9 * January 13 * February 10 * March 10 * April 14 * May 12 * June 9 Lots of holidays are equally early and late this year, so happily there are not too many conflicts!
