Hi Erin,
Yes, absolutely! I would very much appreciate being a part of a conversation about this and how the BC OE librarian community could get involved.
I’d be happy to meet with you and anyone else is who is interested. I can talk more about the processes and standards related to adding new OER to the collection as well as some of the challenges we are experiencing.
Let me know how you’d like to proceed.

Message:
Hello - I was wondering if there could be a Q&A session or discussion about the processes and workflows for loading content in the collection. I'm a bit confused on this and perhaps there can be support from the librarian community to make this clearer and to streamline this work (i.e. selection and review of content, training on using the system, etc.). Perhaps we can work with BCOEL on this?
Thanks for considering!

Hi everyone,
At our meeting last week we talked about the BC Open Education Librarians<https://bcoel.ca/> website theme and design. I contacted BCcampus and was able to go in and change the theme. I didn’t want to stray too far from what we had before without discussing it with the group, so I made each page fairly simple.
Please take a few minutes to look at each page and let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions! There is definitely some information that needs to be updated.
Thanks,
Amanda

Hi all,
Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!
The three of you have volunteered to potentially co-chair the organizing committee for the BCOEL Open Ed event (theme = ZTC/Course Marking). From the sounds of it, no one has the capacity to fully chair the organizing committee but there might be two of you who can co-chair.
We do have a fairly large group who has volunteered to be on the organizing committee. Along with you three, the other volunteers are:
* Darcye Lovsin
* Donna
* Caja
* Lindsay Tripp
* Ian Linkletter
* Gavin Hayes
Most likely, as co-chairs the additional work would be organizing meetings and ensuring everyone stays on task. But there are enough organizers that most of the work should not fall on you.
Can I leave it up to you three to decide who will chair? Or at least to call the first meeting of all the volunteers and then we can go from there?
Thank you so much :)
Cheers,

Most likely, as co-chairs the additional work would be organizing meetings and ensuring everyone stays on task. But there are enough organizers that most of the work should not fall on you.
Can I leave it up to you three to decide who will chair? Or at least to call the first meeting of all the volunteers and then we can go from there?
Thank you so much :)
Cheers,
Darcye

Hi all,
Please see the agenda for Monday's meeting: [https://res.cdn.office.net/assets/mail/file-icon/png/docx_16x16.png] BCOEL-Agenda - Nov22.docx<https://jibc365-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/dlovsin_jibc_ca/EU9_lY2LAe…> As it's only been a few weeks since our last meeting, the agenda is fairly light.
Due to the light agenda, I am going to take advantage of this meeting to run an activity that will help move the BCOEL OER Commons project forward. Ahead of Monday's meeting (if you have time), could you please brainstorm the types of materials your institution creates, uses, or would like to create/use that are related to administration or education of OER. Some examples might include:
* Grant rubrics
* Workshops
* Handouts/Posters
* OER Policy
The types of resources we are looking for are not examples of OER (not specific open textbooks or ancillary resources), but all the administrative pieces involved in an OER program.
At Monday's meeting, I'll gather all the types of resources and if there is time, we will use them for an additional activity.
Thank you and have a wonderful long weekend.
Cheers,
Darcye

Hi all,
Attached are the draft minutes from yesterday's meeting. Thank you, Amanda.
Please review and send any updates to myself or Amanda.
There were several action items for the group. The two that apply to all steering committee members are:
1. Look at the menus/organization of the BCOEL community of practice<https://bcoel.ca/> website and see if there are any comments or feedback, we will bring this up at the next meeting.
2. If you're interested in participating in the Open Education Week/ZTC event planning committee, please sign up on the BCOEL 2022/2203 spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/document/d/132ApUMaJ40Ut-NCRgSdJGoixHRhrCMnwWTotopS…>.

Hi all,
Great to see so many of you today! I meant to share a new Pressbook and accompanying online course called CanadARThistories<https://ecampusontario.pressbooks.pub/canadarthistories/> that might be of interest to those of you at institutions with Art History offerings.
Alena Buis is a co-author and instructor in Langara's Art History department. She belongs to a collective of Art History scholars/educators who advocate for open education; it's called Open Art Histories<https://openarthistories.ca/>. OAH authored the resource with support from eCampusOntario.
CanadARThistories launched at the OAH Pedagogy Institute over the summer and Alena is teaching with it this term (I guess you could call it a soft launch). I've submitted the online suggestion form to BCcampus, as CanadARThistories is currently not included in the BCcampus open textbook collection.
Many thanks,
Lindsay
