Hi all,
I wanted to send a quick update about BCOEL and Open Access week. We had a brief discussion at our last meeting about putting together an event, but it's been decided to hold off on this. There are lots of great events taking place and the organizing team (myself included) did not have the capacity to put something together in the short timeframe.
If your institution is hosting events for Open Access week that are open to external attendees, please send them to the BCOEL listserv (not just the steering committee list). We are also meeting on the Monday of Open Access week so feel free to add your events to the agenda or during the round table.
Thanks everyone and see you in a few weeks. For those attending/presenting at the Open Education conference next week - see you virtually!

Hi all,
It was nice to see people today for our first BCOEL meeting of the academic year.
One of the agenda items was setting BCOEL 2022/2023 priorities. Please have a look at the Google Doc below and sign up for an event or activity for the year. Feel free to sign up for multiple items if you have the capacity. Boxes that are highlighted in green are available for volunteers.
If you have any questions about any of the options, please let me know.

Hi all,
A placeholder for BCOEL monthly meetings, which will be held on the second Monday of every month, except for October, January, and April when they will be on the third Monday.
This year meetings will be held over Jitsi Meet - an open platform that does not require an account or download. The open meeting link will be:
https://meet.jit.si/BCOEL
I'll send out a call for agenda items the week before the meeting, but please feel free to send items as they arise.
I am really looking forward to working with everyone this year!
Cheers,
Darcye
Hi all,
As was discussed today, the proposed meeting dates for next semester will be the second Monday of each month (September-June) from 1:00-2:00pm. Where this date falls on a holiday, the meeting will be scheduled for the third Monday of the month.
Please review the dates below and email me if you see any major issues. Once the dates are confirmed, I will send calendar invites for each meeting.
* September 12
* October 17 (October 10 is Thanksgiving)
* November 14
* December 12
* January 16 (Moved this back one week as Jan 2 is a holiday)
* February 13
* March 13
* April 17 (April 10 is a long weekend)
* May 8
* June 12
Another reminder that we will be testing the platform Jitsi<https://jitsi.org/> for the video calls, as my institution does not have an instiutional Zoom account. The calendar invites will be accompanied by meeting links. You do not need to create an account to access Jitsi video calls.
Have a great day everyone!

Hi all,
As mentioned at Monday's meeting, I'm starting a working group to create a project plan for the BCOEL OER Commons Group<https://www.oercommons.org/groups/bcoel/5118/>. The plan will include:
1. Types of items to upload
2. Acquisition process (e.g. admin add items or allow anyone to add items)
3. Metadata standards for uploading items
4. Review schedule
If you're interested in joining this working group, please complete the Doodle poll below by Friday, April 1st. After that, I will send around a meeting invite.
