Hi all,
Please see the agenda for Monday's meeting: [https://res.cdn.office.net/assets/mail/file-icon/png/docx_16x16.png] BCOEL-Agenda - Nov22.docx<https://jibc365-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/dlovsin_jibc_ca/EU9_lY2LAe…> As it's only been a few weeks since our last meeting, the agenda is fairly light.
Due to the light agenda, I am going to take advantage of this meeting to run an activity that will help move the BCOEL OER Commons project forward. Ahead of Monday's meeting (if you have time), could you please brainstorm the types of materials your institution creates, uses, or would like to create/use that are related to administration or education of OER. Some examples might include:
* Grant rubrics
* Workshops
* Handouts/Posters
* OER Policy
The types of resources we are looking for are not examples of OER (not specific open textbooks or ancillary resources), but all the administrative pieces involved in an OER program.
At Monday's meeting, I'll gather all the types of resources and if there is time, we will use them for an additional activity.
Thank you and have a wonderful long weekend.
Cheers,
Darcye

Hi all,
Attached are the draft minutes from yesterday's meeting. Thank you, Amanda.
Please review and send any updates to myself or Amanda.
There were several action items for the group. The two that apply to all steering committee members are:
1. Look at the menus/organization of the BCOEL community of practice<https://bcoel.ca/> website and see if there are any comments or feedback, we will bring this up at the next meeting.
2. If you're interested in participating in the Open Education Week/ZTC event planning committee, please sign up on the BCOEL 2022/2203 spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/document/d/132ApUMaJ40Ut-NCRgSdJGoixHRhrCMnwWTotopS…>.

Hi all,
Great to see so many of you today! I meant to share a new Pressbook and accompanying online course called CanadARThistories<https://ecampusontario.pressbooks.pub/canadarthistories/> that might be of interest to those of you at institutions with Art History offerings.
Alena Buis is a co-author and instructor in Langara's Art History department. She belongs to a collective of Art History scholars/educators who advocate for open education; it's called Open Art Histories<https://openarthistories.ca/>. OAH authored the resource with support from eCampusOntario.
CanadARThistories launched at the OAH Pedagogy Institute over the summer and Alena is teaching with it this term (I guess you could call it a soft launch). I've submitted the online suggestion form to BCcampus, as CanadARThistories is currently not included in the BCcampus open textbook collection.
Many thanks,
Lindsay

Hi all,
I wanted to send a quick update about BCOEL and Open Access week. We had a brief discussion at our last meeting about putting together an event, but it's been decided to hold off on this. There are lots of great events taking place and the organizing team (myself included) did not have the capacity to put something together in the short timeframe.
If your institution is hosting events for Open Access week that are open to external attendees, please send them to the BCOEL listserv (not just the steering committee list). We are also meeting on the Monday of Open Access week so feel free to add your events to the agenda or during the round table.
Thanks everyone and see you in a few weeks. For those attending/presenting at the Open Education conference next week - see you virtually!
