Hi Debra,
I posed the question to our Open community, and they mentioned it would be great if we
could get Heather Joseph, SPARC's Executive Director. She was just featured on the
Creative Common's podcast, Open Minds – really great interview if anyone wants to
listen:

Cheers,

That would be great – this group meets next Monday (led by Steph Savage) and I will let
them know.
Thanks,

Hi Debra - I believe UBC was talking about having Cary in as a guest speaker. If you
wanted to partner on bringing her in (virtually) to speak, we would be able to help with
an honorarium.
Best,
Erin

Hi Debra,
I believe the person you would want to speak on this topic is Carys J. Craig (Osgoode
Hall Law School, York University) as she was the author of the Educational Fair Dealing in
Canada<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2…
in the Best Practices in Fair Use for OER document from CMSI.

[CAUTION: Non-UBC Email]
Hi everyone,
Darcye and I are helping plan events for Fair Dealing Week (exact date not announced
yet).
Not long ago, I think we talked about wanting something around open textbooks and fair
dealing. Is this correct, and if so, are there any suggestions around this or people you
think could talk on this topic?
Any and all input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Debra & Darcye
