Sorry for cross-posting, but an instructor in the faculty development unit in the College of Medicine is looking for OER to replace the following commercial textbooks. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.
Learner-Centered Assessment workshop series. These are 6 workshops based on the book, Learner-Centered Assessment on College Campuses by Huba & Freed. We use 6 of the chapters – 1 for each workshop. The themes for these workshops happen outside this particular series but we’ve had these as a “series” simply because of the resource book which has them all in it.
Chapters 1 & 2 are quite general & theoretical. They discuss the philosophy underpinning moving from Teacher Centered to Learner Centered & some of the components involved (ex: having learners apply knowledge, active learning, continuous feedback, positive learning environment, etc.) Other workshops are on Learning Objectives, Rubrics, Ill-Defined Problems, & Portfolios – with the common theme of tying them into a Learner-Centered approach.
How Learning Works Series. Book is How Learning Works: 7 Research-based principles for smart teaching by Ambrose, Bridges, DiPietro, Lovett, & Norman. The topic of the chapters is as follows: Prior learning, Knowledge organization, Motivation, Mastery, Practice & feedback, Student development & course climate, & Self-Directed learners.

Hi Everyone,
We're starting to plan a 1-day OER Summit in Alberta. We are looking at
hosting early May 2017. I wanted to throw the date out to all of you for
guidance if there are any events we should consider. With BCcampus Open
Textbook Summit being May 25-26, I hope our event doesn't create a
challenge to people with two OER events in one month.
Thoughts appreciated!
Thanks

Hello Everyone,
I'm sending you a test message on our new CanadaOER listserv. By now, each of you should have also received an auto email from the listserv system welcoming you. This was generated when each of your email addresses was added to the listserv.
We will begin using this listserv ( canadaoer(a)mail.bccampus.ca ) immediately instead of the distribution list (canadaoer(a)bccampus.ca) Note that the two email addresses are very similar.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Regards,
Lauri
