Hi Krysta,
We have been collecting open resources for our K-12 district on this very topic all year
in anticipation of the new Teacher Quality Standards (TQS), curriculum changes and support
for reconciliation
Could you give me some more information on the timing and what you were thinking? Will we
need people to attend an event? Is this an opportunity to collect current open
resources?
It sounds exciting - and very relevant - but we need to know a little more information if
possible?
I can also send the information to other K-12 schools districts, so any additional info is
appreciated.
Verena 😊

Subject: Seeking Connections -- Open Indigenous OER Projects
*cross-posted*
Hi Everyone,
We have a new project at the University of Alberta where we are sourcing free/open
resources which intersects with indigenizing education in K-12 (social studies). I'm
hoping to recruit some other open educators to share their experience with the project
team (instructor, doctoral student, librarians, and me).
Faculty of Education, Elementary Education
EDEL 335 Curriculum and Pedagogy in Elementary School Social Studies
Project Lead: Sharla Peltier
This project will conduct critical review of existing First Nation Metis and Inuit
education materials in Alberta relevant to teaching Social Studies to identify and/or
customize OER for teaching of pre-service teachers and/or classroom use by social studies
elementary teachers and faculty with appropriate Indigenous contexts in response to recent
revisions to Teaching Quality Standard #5: Applying Foundational Knowledge about First
Nations, Metis and Inuit. (Supported through the University of Alberta OER
Awards<https://www.ualberta.ca/centre-for-teaching-and-learning/grants/oer/awards-projects-list>)
Thank you in advance!
