Subject: Suggestions for physical geography open textbook
Hello there,
One of the instructors at Yukon College is looking for an open textbook for Geog 101 and
potentially Geog 102. What he is looking for is basically general physical geography
content, including information about the seasons, atmosphere, water, lithosphere, weather
and climate, and biosphere. Doesn’t need to be related to a region in particular.
We did find some things that could work for him, but was just wondering if any of you know
of materials that have been created more recently or something that you recommend.
Many thanks,
Aline Goncalves

Hey all,
For sure!
For folks who may not know, the British Columbia Federation of Students (BCFS) picked up
the #TextBookBrokeBC campaign, adapted some materials, and created a robust suite of new
materials (digital & print).
One of the things we made was a campaign guide for students' unions to have a place
to start/refer back to while running the campaign. It is a great resource for any stage of
OER work! I have attached it to this email.
There is a handful of other materials and guides (classroom talk scripts, template
presentations, suite of print materials, etc.), I would be more than happy to share with
other students' unions who are interested in working on this. So please don't
hesitate to contact me if you know of a students' union/association that would be
interested.
It is important for students to raise awareness on our end and working together works!
Thanks
Aran

Hi Aran,
You know that whole package you put together for BCFS on textbookbrokebc? You showed us
the handouts at Festival of Learning...
Can you share those resources with our Canada OER Group?

Subject: [Canadaoer] Resources For Students Advocating for OER
I just had a meeting with the VP Academic of our undergraduate student association and
he’s looking for a resources for individual students to guide them in approaching their
instructors about considering OER. Does anyone have something like talking points for
individual students?
Thank you.
