Tom and Sean are much more open to the OEP ideas we talked about in our sprint. They have
focused a lot on writing in the past (a History go-to) but have great ideas for
project-based learning, including community interaction. I think it would be a good
connection.
A key driver for them to use Pressbooks (we also explored Wordpress) was to include
Hypothes.is (it's embedded in the draft Pressbooks I shared) so students could
annotate and enrich the resources as part of Tutorial discussion participation. An
instructor could make private student groups (or go public) in terms of the annotation and
exploration of the resources.

But are any of them having students engage with the 5Rs?

Sean and Tom will be seeking contributors for the Open History Seminar project and would
be able to tell your instructor History team about that.
Also John Douglas Belshaw at Thompson Rivers who wrote the open textbooks Canadian
History: Pre-Confederation and Post-Confederation. He's a great collaborator.
Excellent historians one and all.

Subject: [Canadaoer] Open Pedagogy in History
There is some interest in our Department of History to integrate open pedagogy. Many of
their courses don’t use any textbooks so this is a good opening. A faculty member
suggested that I find instructors of History at other universities using open pedagogy who
might be willing to speak with the department. Does anyone have any suggestions?
