Hi Heather,
The NC clause refers only to the use, not to the entity. So even though her practice may
be a commercial entity, the use of handing out patient education materials, to me, seems
to be a non-commercial purpose. If there is no payment or compensation directly connected
with the exchange, then you should be in the clear.

Subject: [Canadaoer] Creative Commons Question
Good Monday morning everyone.
I have a question about a CC-BY-NC license. This module from NOBA carries that license
(
https://nobaproject.com/modules/the-nervous-system) I’m married to a chiropractor who
would like to take content from the book and put it into some patient education materials
to provide to patients for free. Her practice is obviously a business and she’s paid by
patients for care, but not for the patient education materials. Can she still take content
from this module for this purpose? I’m unsure so want to check.
Thank you.
