I have an instructor looking for OER for use in courses in our College of Education for
pre-service teachers who will be teaching in French or Cree. I already know about the Cree
language book from the University of Regina and am not optimistic about finding more for
that, but here are the overall goals they’re trying to hit (if they’re OER they obviously
don’t need to align exactly with the Saskatchewan curriculum because they can be
modified):
Below are the general outcomes for the courses we are designing. The courses include
teaching Science, Social Studies, Math, French or Cree Language Arts in the language of
instruction (Cree and French)
*In this course, you will:
* demonstrate an understanding of learning outcomes in a subject specific
curriculum.
* demonstrate capabilities to write language outcomes to complement subject specific
outcomes
* reinforce and extend linguistic and cultural identity through the program of study.
(subject specific curriculum)
* select and use appropriate instructional and assessment strategies to achieve
learning and language outcomes in a target language.
* adapt and differentiate learning to meet student needs in a target language.
* access and select appropriate resources in a target language for a specific subject
area.
* reinforce and extend teacher candidate’s oral and written language skills in the
language of instruction.
*Saskatchewan Teacher Education, Classification and Certification (TECC) Goals and
Competencies
Thank you.
