This resource was replaced by the [ https://open.bccampus.ca/find-open-textbooks/?uuid=1d31f3b7-dd9f-4f47-97eb-… | Self-Publishing Guide ] , added in February. * Find attached a zipped file containing the editable files for the BCcampus [ https://bccampus.ca/files/2018/05/OpenEdInfoSheet_Spring2018_03.pdf | Open Education Info Sheet – Spring 2018 ] Reviews * Starting March 18, 2018, the licence for published reviews changed from CC BY-ND to CC BY. (Older reviews still retain the CC BY-ND designation.) This was done to more easily share reviews with other collections. This information, along with a statement clarifying that the copyright for reviews is held by the reviewer, has been clarified on the [ https://open.bccampus.ca/call-for-proposals/call-for-reviewers-2/ | Review an Open Textbook ] web page on our website. * When open textbooks are replaced with new editions, PDFs of the reviews for the older edition are now compiled in a zip file and posted by the new version of the textbook. A README file is included in the zipped file explaining this arrangement and the reason for it. They include the complete catalog from the University of Georgia's Galileo repository and seven new 2nd editions from OpenStax. These new titles bring our total listings to over 750 open textbooks. [Email Image] Peer Reviews Peer reviews are more prominent on our new site, and this has led to an increase in the number of educators who are offering to join our distinguished panel of peer reviewers. We've added eight new reviews since April, with more in the pipeline. [Email Image] Success Stories Success stories are a new initiative, and we're off to a great start. Subscribe to the channel and you'll be notified as soon as new stories are posted. ________________________________ We're Building an Open Textbook Search Engine Much has changed in the OER universe since we first created College Open Textbooks. Ten years ago, most open textbooks were self-published and scattered widely across the web. Today we're seeing a steady increase in the number of curated repositories. College Open Textbooks has a small team of volunteer web developers working on an application to mine those repositories. Our prototype currently searches the repositories of five organizations who have partnered with us (BC Campus, UGA's Galileo, Orange Grove, OpenStax, and SUNY), as well as College Open Textbooks' own listings. We're excited to announce that Charles Key, the Search Engine program manager, will present our progress in two weeks at the upcoming Open Education Conference. Call for nominations Awards for Excellence in Open Education

Dear friends- We encourage you to nominate a peer and colleague at your Institution for Awards for Excellence in Open Education. The Awards for Excellence in Open Education recognize outstanding contributions to the open education movement in British Columbia. These contributions may include significant leadership, OER development, research, or advocacy by faculty, students, support staff, or administrators at post-secondary institutions in B.C. or others that support the post-secondary system in B.C. Individuals or teams may be recognized. Anyone may propose a nomination, but individuals may not self-nominate. Individual award nominations are made in writing via the online form (see below). The open education team at BCcampus adjudicates the award each month. Award winners will receive a certificate of recognition and be profiled on the BCcampus website.
