BCcampus Open Education: new OER and updates (January 23, 2018)

Hello Everyone, Happy 2019 to everyone. Below is the latest for BCcampus Open Education. New textbook [ https://open.bccampus.ca/find-open-textbooks/?uuid=1ff23e21-e22d-482d-9fc5-… | Environmental Science: A Canadian Perspective ] This is the first open textbook published by Dalhousie University. It has been used for many years and underwent five revisions. When the author and Dalhousie faculty member, Bill Freedman, passed away, his widow agreed to publish the newest edition as an open textbook. This textbook is intended to provide the core elements of a curriculum for teaching environmental science at the introductory level in Canadian colleges and universities. This book is suitable for students beginning a program in environmental science, environmental studies, or sustainability . (Reprieve) Open Education Working Group Strategic Direction

Hi there fellow Open Educators! Thanks to all who responded to the doodle poll for the tentative meeting next week. There wasn't a great response to the request for a meeting (I know... we are all busy) so I would like to re-schedule it to see if there are more convenient dates further along into February. The Open Education Working group would like to invite you all to a "general" meeting to discuss the strategic direction of "open" at BCIT. As some of you remember, last year we had a general meeting to come up with action items for 2018. This year we would like to set a couple of strategic goal statements that will guide our activities for 2019. We would also like to review and update the action plan, centred around the strategic goals. We would like to have this meeting fairly soon, so I created a Doodle Poll for the week of Jan. 21.
