Hello all
Rajiv and I are working on a few things for Open Ed week. One of the things we hope to get done is some subject specific OER boxes for our libguides. Remember we were going to do this a long time ago ....I'm just not sure I'm hitting people with the general OER guide and so hope I can draw in a few more people by putting the box on the subject specific one.
I'm willing to put them in the wiki if others think they will benefit? We are going to use some student time to figure out our top 10 target areas at KPU. Then I'll build a short list of subject specific resources for each of those areas. I know there was a refresher on the mediawiki a week or so ago - I got stuck in a meeting but I also still use the wiki. Is there still interest in me putting them up there?
Maybe if there are others in the group that also have a top 10 list, we can collaborate and get more than 10 up on the wiki? Do you think we reinvigorate the wiki? I see it as one of the areas where we can really help with duplication in workloads! Yes? No?

Hi there everyone,
I have a request to make.... I have been invited to speak at the COPPUL meeting on March 2 in the afternoon. The attendance will include mostly Library Directors and Collection Committee reps, as well as some staff. The group is interested to hear about OER initiatives in Canada, what is happening in BC and the West and how libraries are coping with "open" especially from the perspective of data-sharing from the perspective of collections.
Because the Collections aspect is so well represented, I thought that it would be great if we could collect the perspectives of Collections Administrators at our libraries as they deal with "open" in a series of short videos. So here is my ask - any chance that you can engage some Collections folks at your respective libraries to do a short video that deals with their own experiences with open? These could be 1 or 2 minute videos and ideally I would get 3 to 5 pieces that I could integrate in my presentation.
My plan is that during my presentation, we could show the videos and have an open discussion about the issues that are brought up.
I know that Hope Power already said she was going to put the word out. Hope, I can't wait to hear from you! But if some of you could also engage your folks, that would be excellent.
Please let me know and I thank you in advance for your support.
Cheers,

I wanted to be sure that you all know about this. Date confirmed for Thursday, March 2, at BCIT Downtown Campus. 9-12 with catered lunch to follow and then, for those interested, an ALS meeting in the afternoon.
Hi there everyone,
I have a meeting with the Canada OER group tomorrow, and would like to report on what we are planning to do for Open Education Week in BC. I know Robin DeRosa is coming to speak at KPU and Douglas, right? Any other ideas and/or plans for events that week at your institutions?
Also, as you have details, please send them to me as BCcampus will place them on the calendar under Open Education Week, like what we did for Open Access Week.
Cheers,

Hello,
The first available date for all who responded to the poll is Feb.15th at 2:00 PM (if that doesn't work, it could also be a 2:30 or 3). So if that is still good for everyone we will meet by Skype then. Please either let me know your agenda items or you can also add them yourself if you want - http://bcoerguides.wikispaces.com/Meeting+Agenda+and+Virtual+Meeting+Room+I…
