These are possible dates/times for the fall meetings (third Tuesday of the month, 1:30-2:30). Please let me know by Wed. next week if this does not work for you.
Tuesday, September 17, 1:30-2:30
Tuesday, October 15, 1:30-2:30
Tuesday, November 19, 1:30-2:30
Thanks, Lin

Hi again all,
Based on the number of interested emails I received, I am forwarding the files Jennifer Weldon created for the BCcampus open textbook collection look-up tool with the whole list.
Lauri, Jennifer (who works on contract with both Langara and VCC) created the tool and was happy for me to share the code with BCcampus and the wider open ed community. No sense re-inventing the wheel! 😉
Best,
Lindsay

Hi Lindsay,
I’ve finished annotating the code snippet/styling for the Open Textbook search box. I’ve attached it as a .html file and as a .txt file. Feel free to share it with anyone who wants it, and I am happy to answer any questions that arise.
Best,
Jennifer

Subject: Sharing the open textbook look-up tool?
Hi Jennifer,
I attended the BC Open Ed Librarians retreat at BCIT Vancouver yesterday and a few attendees asked if you would be willing to share the BC Open Textbook Collection look-up tool you created for the VCC and Langara open ed LibGuides. If you are, I’m wondering about the best way to share it(?) Any suggestions are welcome!
Many thanks,
Lindsay

Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that we have the June BCOEL Steering Committee Meeting on Wednesday, June 12th at BCIT's Downtown Campus (555 Seymour Street, Vancouver) in room 481. The meeting will be from 9am to noon, but the room is booked for 8:30. We will not be providing refreshments due to budget issues, so please be sure to bring coffee/morning snack if so desired. We'll build in a longer coffee break in the agenda to give us time to go downstairs and get required caffeine.
Some of the topics to discuss/work on include:
o Youtube channel content
o Maintaining website - who should do? How frequently?
o Review decisions from January - are things working?;
o What are our plans for the next year?
o Time for working group to plan out remainder of the year and/or work on projects
Could you let me know if you are still able (or are now able) to attend so that Lin and I have rough numbers?
Also - attached are the November and May minutes. Thanks to Lin for doing those.
I'm only working a half day today (first day back after a nasty case of bronchitis brought me to my knees), and I'm catching the early flight to Vancouver tomorrow morning for the Relais Users Group meeting, so responses may be delayed.
Thanks,
Brenda
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late response. I thought I had sent this last week, but it was sitting there in my Drafts folder. Sigh.

Is there anything else that you think we should do during this time to make it productive?
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,

Hi everyone,
At the BCOEL Steering committee meeting today, we decided to try and do the June in person that was discussed at the Cascadia lunch as a half day meeting on either Monday, June 11 or Wednesday, June 13. (As the main "out of town" person, I'll be in Vancouver for a meeting on the 12th). Please fill out the poll to see which of these dates work best for you. If neither of them work, please let me know.

So far, we know that we want to talk about/work on the following:
o Youtube channel content
o Maintaining website - who should do? How frequently?
o Review decisions from January - are things working?;
o What are our plans for the next year?
o Time for working group to plan out remainder of the year and/or work on projects
Is there anything else that you think we should do during this time to make it productive?
Thanks,
Brenda
Hello, all.
I sorted out the account verification and uploaded the Open But Not Free event video to the BCOEL Youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYkjalQZNtja3MWuOnoMuNg
Please point me in the direction of anything else BCOER/BCOEL has done and I'll add those videos. And perhaps subscribe if you do that kind of thing: I think we have some more customisation options available if the channel has 100+ subscribers (which may be overly optimistic looking at the subscriber numbers for a few other related channels - Bccampus has 38...).
As I recall, the primary reasons for having this channel was to make event videos more widely available and possibly use the streaming functionality at future events. If we meet in June we can discuss if there is anything else we might do.
