Some professors in our College of Education are looking for an open textbook or other OER for a first year course. It’s an introductory course (basic educational theory, terms, what’s assessment, etc.). The learning outcomes not specific to Saskatchewan are:
- Develop awareness of important education constructs, issues, and practices in teaching and learning in secondary schools (high schools)
- Begin to understand who secondary learners are and how to address their unique needs
- Start to consider alternative possibilities for innovating teaching and learning in secondary education
They are considering taking an open pedagogy approach and having students find appropriate information for creating a course wiki that could serve as a text, but the professors would still like to know what’s out there for OER to either go along side or use if the open pedagogy approach doesn’t seem to be working (it’s a new course).
Thank you.

A nursing instructor here just told me that they’ve heard rumours that the textbook they’ve been using for several courses may no longer have a Canadian edition (https://www.amazon.ca/Canadian-Fundamentals-Nursing-Patricia-Potter/dp/1926…) which will mean them having to begrudgingly switch to a Pearson text. She said it would be great if there was an open textbook instead. Does anyone know of something existing or in the works?
Thank you.

Good afternoon.
I have an instructor of a large course on the history of popular music looking for OER (or even just publicly available) to use in place of a commercial textbook. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
