The Open Education Strategist provides project management and support for various open education initiatives and direct pedagogical consultation and technical training to KPU educators and programs on how to discover, adopt, adapt, or create open educational resources (OER) and how to design learning experiences that integrate principles of open pedagogy. The incumbent oversees the regular collection, management, and reporting of data for the Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) program, plans the Open Education Research Institute, and provides support to OER grantees, Open Pedagogy Fellows, and Open Education Research Fellows. Through consultations, materials and training, the incumbent communicates open education trends and practices to educators and peers. Collaborating with Teaching and Learning Commons staff, librarians, and other stakeholders within and outside of KPU, this position advances, supports, and evaluates open educational practices for KPU.
Qualified candidates will have current knowledge of Creative Commons licenses and how to discover, adopt, revise, and remix OER educational resources (OER). A demonstrated ability to create or adapt OER using open education tools (e.g., Pressbooks, H5P, etc.), current knowledge of open pedagogy (e.g., renewable assignments), and the ability to design, develop and deliver information, resources and training on open educational practices is required. A Bachelor’s degree is required. A specialization in Communications, Education, Marketing, Educational Technology, or Library & Information Science would be an asset. This is a unionized (BCGEU) position that includes benefits.
KPU has five campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia and offers bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations in more than 140 programs. Almost 20,000 students annually attend courses at KPU campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley, Cloverdale, and Civic Plaza.

An editorial team based at UBC Okanagan is putting out a call for chapter proposals for an open-access book about open pedagogy and the open education movement. This book will centre Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing with regard to open education.
Chapter proposals can be for essays, research papers, or case studies between 4,000 and 6,000 words, excluding references. Proposals are due March 15, 2022.

I would say that any art elements that are under a Microsoft license
that does not allow relicensing under a CC license should be clearly
marked; that the clip art can be incorporated with a presentation that
is otherwise CC-licensed but those elements would need to be marked
separately.
By templates I'm thinking you mean layouts that include
some sort of stock designs, and not just layout placement? I'd
consider that the same as clip art to the extent they include
copyrightable art and designs; some that are just simple placement
guides and do not really include art I think would be harder to say
are copyrightable at all.

(2) CC will reach out to Microsoft in early 2022 to ask this question, and to check in on their work and plans related to open licensing.
(3) As a practical matter - if you use MS powerpoint to create slides, and you want to be extra safe - you might want to include some of this info in your attribution statements - either at the beginning or the end of the powerpoint slide deck.

I would highly encourage the person to visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/useterms/ to see if they can find the specific license that applies to them OR just port their work to a royalty free template or their own design since I think there might be risks involved with repackaging a Microsoft or potentially third party owned template and releasing it under an open license.

My institutional version of PowerPoint won't let me see the EULA, but according to https://office-watch.com/2016/office-licence-all-35000-words-of-it/, a version of the EULA says "you may not: ... (ii) grant your customers rights to further license or distribute the media elements" which would preclude any open licensing.

The submission deadline for OTESSA 2022 has been extended<https://otessa.org/news/otessa22-final-deadline-extended-to-january-15/> until January 15, 2022.
The Open/Technology, Education, Scholarship and Society Association (OTESSA<https://conference.otessa.org/index.php/conference>) online conference will be held between May 16 and 19, 2022. The overarching theme is critical change, and the subthemes are the transitions of online learning and teaching; addressing the new iniquities; and sustaining positive change. There is also a wildcard subcategory for "innovative and inventive ideas around research or practice" that don't fit any of the subthemes.
As said in their call for proposals<https://otessa.org/2022/>: "OTESSA welcomes thinkers, tinkerers and designers from across disciplines and contexts who are exploring the role of open and digital technologies in education, society, and scholarship to be part of this conference gathering."
